two, together

HERE'S THE USUAL Friday pairing... minus the -ing. I love this image for a couple reasons. Its contrasting tones, the little bits of skin, two anonymous people, together and still. Most of all, I like the grainy quality of the photo- it appears to be shot on film, which brings me to my next little endeavor. Earlier this morning, I finally dropped off my second roll of film from NYC, and I'll go pick it up in just a couple hours. Ah, the anticipation. I'm really hoping they turn out ok, and we'll know soon enough, I guess! On another random note, lately I've been so inspired by menswear magazines. Fantastic Man, Hello Mr., and Fucking Young! are all visually powerful- they bring something that a lot of lifestyle quarterlies alone don't satisfy. I think a menswear inspired post is in store soon, don't you?

Have a great weekend!

bits from the city

- a few memorabilia collected in NYC -

1) Muji striped socks and notebooks... Ah Muji. I never walk out from this store with empty hands. At this point, I've been to the one in Tokyo, in LA, even here in SF every time I need (want) to buy a few new basics. Each time I'm just as enamored.

2) Ticket Stub from the Met. It's truly one of my favorite museums in the world. Walking in through the glass doors, and staring up to the textured gold dome while standing in the huge entrance way- it leaves you a little breathless. The Egyptian room is by far the most incredible to me. Its slanted glass walls reflect in the indoor pond, and green palms line the white vastness... you just want to sit here for hours, drawing, reading, thinking about nothing. Its one of my favorite places in all of NYC, actually.

3) Granola bars from Grand Cafe Lafayette. Makes me nostalgic for mornings in the city...

4) Postcard from Cafe Collette in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Had the best shrimp tacos of my life here!

5) Oxfords from Zara. Ah, I can't even describe how long I've been searching for a good pair of summer oxfords. I love how slim fitting and menswear- inspired these are. Not to mention, they seriously weigh close to nothing! Perfect for taking the city by foot.

Many thanks to Victor for adding his lettering above!

Mornings in Boston

mornings at Charles Mark hotel, Boston

AH... WHAT A LONG TIME it feels like, since I last got to sit here and write away into the am! Well here I am now, feet barely functioning, and mentally worn out (nyc, you wonderfully exhausting city!) but so happy to be home. What can I say about my experience in NYC this second time around...

For the love of: writing letters

Saturday, August 16, 2014

CUPS OF COFFEE + letter writing + endless summer playlist - sounds like my ideal morning. This is a photo I took behind the scenes at my internship, Apartment34's shoot a few weeks ago! The idea here, was to create a kind of "ode to the art of writing letters", something that we hardly seem make time for anymore. Of course, being a total nostalgic, I love the idea of writing letters to others- I would gladly turn off my phone for a week if it meant re-capturing the anticipation of finding a letter in the mail. I was so happy to create the moodboard, and help conceptualize and style the shoot- we had a great time!

Check the full shoot out here, and if you see an arm clad in black wristwatch- that's probably me;)

P.S: Next post- everything NYC.

Friday pairings: une film camera

_______

JE PEUX VOUS prendre en photo? Another pairing for a Friday- it's very similar to this one, actually I think it's the femme version. How lovely that flora works for both a male and female subject. This time, the one in the photo happens to be me! We shot this with a few images in mind- one was of course Freja Beha Erickson's Zara vid circa A/W 2012. Audrey in black and white film, always. And I guess just trying to capture the feeling of staying indoors on a foggy, hazy afternoon, and taking photos all day long. Just talking and doing nothing, really.
