Sorry if the hair-in-face image brings back disturbing memories of the grudge! Quite unintentional, i promise.  A little darker than my usual technicolored photos...most likely attributed to the fact that 1) my taste in aesthetics has changed quite a bit since I first started this blog (almost one year ago!) and 2) the rediscovery of Bon Iver. It started with "skinny love", a month or so ago, but Win and I now catch ourselves absentmindedly humming his dark, dreamy lyrics nearly every time there's a pause in conversation. And its kind of a magical feeling, listening to his words right before falling asleep.

"This is not the sound of a new man or crispy realization
It's the sound of the unlocking and the lift away
Your love will be
Safe with me"

Youth is like Diamonds in the Sun, and Diamonds are forever

"Let's dance in style let's dance for a while,
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies,
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst,
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?

Let us die on let us live forever,

Don't have the power but we never say never,
Sitting in the sandpit life is a short trip,
Music's for the sad man

Can you imagine when this race is run,

Turning up our faces into the sun,
Praising our leaders getting in tune,
Music's played by the mad man

Forever young, I want to be forever young,

Do you really want to live forever?
Forever forever,
Forever young, I want to be forever young,
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, forever

Some are like water Some are like the heat,

Some are melodies Some are the beat,
Sooner or later they'll all be gone,
Why don't they stay on?
It's hard to get without a cause,
I don't want to perish like a fading voice,
Youth is like diamonds in the sun,
And diamonds are forever,

So many adventures couldn't happened today,
So many songs that we forgot to play,
So many dreams swimming out in the blue,
Let them come true
Forever young I want to be forever young,
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, forever"

-interior decor via urban outfitters-

Though its authenticity is somewhat questionable, I think the UO 2012 home decor catalog more than delivers. I've seen similar aesthetics many times (in fact I just showed my friends an album full of white-walled inspiration photos a few days back mostly dragged off of tumblr, magazines, etc), but this doesn't stop me from lusting over their decor. While I love the little terrarium (photo 1), lets face it, I'm not about to order one online when I can surely find the real deal here in the Valencia area (sf).  Speaking of going out and about in the city, we went to see Marina& the diamonds this past Wednesday at the Fillmore! 1) Her stage presence=insane 2) Have Primadonna stuck in my head (so much better live) and 3) definitely not our last visit to the fillmore. The place is just rad. Why didn't we go there when we were younger?! wasted youth indeed. Final note: I recently bought this world map from the talented Bianca Green. Her stuff is bursting with color& fun, definitely spirit-lifting. Can't wait to see it in person.

Listening to: Manchester Orchestra, Duffy, random European rap?  the usual...

Berkeley trip will be up next. Happy weekend! x

Mango ice cream+ ginger snaps

 little indulgences

This week has been so completely packed with outings and adventures. but hey not complaining!
After my History of Modern Art class on Tuesday morning, we visited the MoMa (cheers for free days in the city) where we wandered around& stared at the beautifully haunting, (and the overly abstract) for hours upon hours.  Wednesday was 4th of July (photos coming soon),  Thursday was spent at the library+working, and Friday I finally met up with my ever- photogenic friend at Outerlands (photos soon) for a long awaited catch up session. My mom and I looked around the farmer's market this morning, (again, photos coming soon) and ended the day watching Audrey Hepburn ooze charisma&charm like none other.

And... finally onto the subject of this post, I randomly decided to make:

Mango Ice Cream and Ginger Snaps
Organic Ginger snaps (Trader Joe's)
Mango Ice Cream
bit of green for decoration

There's really no recipe for such a simple little dessert (unless you make the cookie and ice cream from scratch, which sounds utterly time consuming, but surely well worth it).
I took these photos on a bit of a whim, but I think they turned out pretty well!

End of June Inspiration

images 2/6/11 via  free people, image 4 here, rest from my tumblr

...and there goes another month!
June was an incredible one though, from finally having breathing room after finishing my first year of college, to visiting one of my dream destinations (I miss you terribly Italy), and reuniting with friends back here in the city.  Even amidst myths of long, lazy summer days, life is definitely speeding by, and I'm determined to fill every day with new adventures and insights (however small) and just push myself more creatively this summer than ever before. Here's what my days have been looking like so far:

Sunday: Pride Parade in sf.
Since this was one of the first summers in the city during June, this was my first Pride experience. Amazingly, we didn't run into any naked crazies. Not until Friday in the Castro.  Oh San Francisco...
From here, we walked to Filmore and stopped at j-town for a quick crepe/ sushi/ sausage lunch.
Headed to the alice summer fest in golden gate park next, where we caught a bit of boys like girls and Adam Lambert. Not bad for a free concert!
Finally, made a few brief stops on our walk home- visited the new Ambiance on Irving, and a park (we always seem to end up at) where we sat our tired butts down on a rickety jumbo swing intended for 5-year old's.

Monday:  hike with S. all kinds of lovely.

Wednesday: Yerba Buena Lane's Cultural Centers with mom, then poked around anthropologie.

Thursday: watched old Coldplay concert vids with W (many kudos to her for getting amazing footage) then saw Moonrise Kingdom! One day we'll have a tree house like that.  One day.

"I love you, but you don't know what you're talking about"

Friday: Discovered countless new stores around Church/Valencia/ and Mission area. Visited the ever enchanting Paxton Gate, Veracocha, Taylor stitch, and the Curiosity shoppe to name a few.

Weekend: Young the Giant concert on Saturday and Grease sing-along on Sunday. Should be fun!

Have a wonderful week,
and keep in mind the words of sweet simplicity from the incredible Gibran:

"And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair"

-Kahlil Gibran
